“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” John 1:14 NIV.
Author and speaker Paula D’Arcy says, “God comes to us disguised as our life.” If that’s true, do you like what you see?
Our Westernized Christianity has split spirit from body so completely that we can barely see God’s anywhere in our lives. We imagine Him as far off, aloof, way up in heaven somewhere. He’s often nothing more to us than Casper the Friendly Ghost. He’s nice enough, but He doesn’t seem to be very active in our circumstances, much less showing up with bags of blessings under His holy arms.
But what if D’Arcy’s words are true? What if we could start recognizing God in the situations we’re in right now? Would our challenges look different? Could we face them as our friends, like we believe God is? Maybe spiritual insight starts with taking an inventory of our lives, letting them guide us into healthier, happier choices instead of always wanting God to drop our blessings out of the skies. Selah.
